A.K. HANSN DIGS UP OLD DANISH ELECTRONICA

A.K. Hansn and his father has been unearthing a whole heap of cool Danish electronic music from 1960-1978 over the last couple of years. Now the best of those old reel-to-reel tapes have been cleaned up and compiled on "Pioneers - The Beginning of Danish Electronic Music". A lush double-cd released by the Aarhus-based label LJUD - also containing a very informative booklet about the music..
Not just of historical interest, but also an immensely beautiful and hugely interesting release which has already gotten rave reviews in the press.
You can read more about it at http://www.ljud.dk/releases/default.asp?action=showrel&id=8
If you want to buy it then get in touch with the label through the website. We recommend that you do if you have an interest in electronic music.

KURVE IS BACK!

Aarhus-based balkanpunkband KURvE has been on a hiatus for a while. The band played at the very first SOPA Night at Ausland in Berlin back in 2007 and one half of Agata & Me - Emir Pasic - is the singer and guitarist in KURvE.
Now the band will return on March 28 at Lobby in Aarhus, Denmark. Known for their highly energetic concerts where the speed of punk is combined with the all-over-the-place melodies and complex rhythmic patterns of balkan music the audience is sure to be in for a great experience.
When they take the stage this time the quartet will be reinforced with three more brass players making it a septet. Ready to literally blow everyone away. KURvE's set will be split in two where in the break delicious Balkan specialities will be served - alongside the (in)famous plum booze Šljivovica for those who dare. The night will also feature others sorts of entertainment from De Jydske Helte and Hr. Vagner.

NEW WEBSITE PROJECT

SOPA founder Lars Kjær Dideriksen started the 'århus:nu' book and cd-project back in 2003. An effort to document the talent on the Aarhus music scene back then. The website has been living a quiet life just selling the book/cd since the 2004 release. But now it's been brought back to life in order to bring everyone news about live shows in Aarhus, Denmark, as well as documenting some of them on video. You can check it out at http://www.aarhus-nu.dk
